Organizing work with projects

A project keeps everything for a piece of work in one place — your notes, the files you upload, the documents the assistant creates, and the context you want it to always keep in mind. This article covers each of those and how to use them.

Notes

Notes are your own notes, saved to the project and available across every chat in it. Use them for anything you want to keep at hand — key facts, decisions, a running list — without pasting it into each new conversation.

Attachments

Attachments are files you upload for the assistant to read and work with — a document, a spreadsheet, an image. Once uploaded to the project, the assistant can refer to them in any chat there.

Artifacts

Artifacts are the documents and other outputs the assistant creates — a draft, a report, a plan. They're saved to your workspace so you can find, reuse, and build on them later instead of digging back through old chats.

Reusable prompts

If you ask for the same kind of thing often, save it as a prompt in the project's settings, under Prompts. A saved prompt is a reusable snippet you can run again without retyping it, so requests you make regularly stay consistent.

Pin the context that matters

Pin the files and notes you want the assistant to always reference, and they become the project's context — on hand in every chat without your having to point at them each time. Pin what's essential to the work; leave the rest as ordinary notes and attachments.

Set standing instructions

For guidance the assistant should always follow — your tone, your audience, rules to respect — use Instructions in the project's settings. Instructions apply to every chat in the project.
